One cannot overstate the harm done to the People of God through the inappropriate behavior of those ordained to the clerical state. While such behavior is limited to a small proportion of clerics, nonetheless, great is the damage to the entire Body of Christ. Even one case is far too many. Because of this, the Church must be ever vigilant. Every cleric must exercise extreme prudence in his conduct and interaction with parishioners and with the greater society.
The Eparchy will educate clergy in the harm done by betraying their position of trust. Likewise, the Eparchy will offer them ways and means of support in their chaste and celibate lifestyle; clergy will be encouraged to form friendships and supports with other priests seeking holiness of life.
The behavior of a cleric which threatens the health and/or well-being of any parishioner or persons, will be carefully investigated by the Eparchial Bishop or his delegate. The person(s) making the allegations will be interviewed in an atmosphere that will ensure justice and fairness to all concerned. The accused will also be interviewed. Confidentiality will be maintained and only those necessary will be involved in the process.
